Don Bosco Technical Institute

Don Bosco Technical Institute Odumase is a government assisted technical school with the aim of training young boys and girls in the following fields of knowledge:

  • General Agriculture and Agriculture Mechanics
  • Secretarial Studies with Account Option
  • Building Construction Technology
  • Welding and Fabrication Technology
  • Carpentry and Joinery Technology
  • Computer Technology
  • Creative Art Technology
  • Electrical Installation and Maintenance
  • Printing Press

Training Duration

Each of the programmes listed here lasts for three years and ends with an external examination from Technical Examination unit under CODVET. However should a student opt to do proficiency training which is offered only in Carpentry and Welding department, the training programme could last from one to two years or more, depending on the learning abilities of the trainee.

Entry Qualifications

Don Bosco Technical Institute offers admission to candidates who have completed BECE or WASCE respectively and possess the ability to read and write. There is also opportunity for those who have little or no formal education to be trained in Welding and Fabrication and Carpentry and Woodwork Technology respectively to enable them to make a living.

Certificates

The following certificates are obtained at the end of the training:

  • Certificates I and II and from Technical Examination Unit and National Board for Professional and Technical Examination (NABPTEX).
  • Don Bosco Technical Institute Certificate

Plus other supporting certificates that are unique to various departments. (Ref. to each department) These certificates enable the holder to secure a well-paying job as well as an opportunity to further his/her education in most of the tertiary institutions.

Our Pedagogical Approach

The educational system practiced in Don Bosco Technical Institute is the principle of 'Preventive System', which is an education pedagogy used by Don Bosco himself and handed to us his progeny as a very effective means of obtaining high academic and practical standard, practical and creative response to challenges and sound moral judgment and permanent positive change in behaviour.
